Halo-halo Craving

Sometime in a month, there were moments when my taste buds were uncanny to an extent that I am unable to stand the usual foods that I take.  Without doubt, some of you may have experienced the same.  What I do when this happens is force my husband to procure for me a sundae not just one but two sundaes.  Nonetheless, this time, I did a totally opposite overt act that I commonly do when my taste buds are changeable.

I dressed up, proceeded to the mall and ordered a Halo-halo, all on my own, but of course, with my husband's knowledge.  Personally, I only prefer to eat Halo-halo made by two food outlets located in our home town, namely, Chowking and Merry Muffet.  Wait, I assure you that this is not a paid review.  I am just a lady simply yearning for something.

In this post, I'll feature the Chowking Halo-halo for it was the only food that I can think.  Upon entering Chowking, I immediately ordered a regular size Halo-halo.  It seemed like forces of nature were on my side since I encountered no problem during that yearning like being in a long queue.

This Halo-halo is always topped with Ube ice cream as well as a slice of leche flan which happens to be one of my favorite desserts.  It is very mouthwatering especially since, as I have said, I am yearning for it.

Nonetheless, I remember that even if I am not craving for it we customarily visit Chowking and order Halo-halo when dropping by at our parent's place located in another city.  I guess eating Chowking Halo-halo runs from the family, lol.

How about you, what do you usually crave for?

Avocado Two-Ingredient Ice Cream

I cannot sleep.  It is our town fiesta and there is an activity going on near our house.  It's almost one o'clock in the morning.  Forcing myself to sleep makes it even worst for I am starting to have a headache.  Therefore, here I am facing my laptop while drinking a milk.

To make me calm and since I cannot eat it at an early hour like this, I would rather blog about my avocado two-ingredient ice cream.  It was supposed to be the usual avocado dessert we always had but I thought of simply letting it cool for several hours to make it an ice cream.  The thought of it made me excited and I immediately took photos as I prepare for it for purposes of blogging about it.

The ingredients include only an avocado and condensed milk.  As to the quantity of the ingredients, you can vary it according to your taste.  Mix the two ingredients and put it in your ice cream maker and follow the directions in using the latter or you can place it in a blender or manually mix the ingredients.  After that, refrigerate it for several hours.  It is as uncomplicated as that.  No sweat.
This avocado two-ingredient ice cream may not be as soft as those commercially sold, all the same, it is pure and delicious.  Since it is avocado season here, I think we will be having more of this but with added ingredients.

Because of the Chocolate Moist with Mango Parfait

It was a hot Sunday morning and a quiet one when suddenly a recollection bursted into my mind commanding me to attend an educational advocacy turnover.  I panicked.  It was already eight in the morning and the event will start at ten o'clock on the same day.  Yeah, I know what it is in your mind right now and that is, there is still a lot of time.  However, for me, its the other way around.  Two hours preparation for the event are not enough.  I would rather not include the details as to why for they could be unreasonable or unrealistic to some.  The essential thing is, I made it to the event but upon arriving, I was totally shocked and nervous when I was told that I am assigned as an emcee.

It is an honor to be assigned as such, nevertheless I am in no position to perform the task at hand.  Therefore, to be useful, I suggested to take pictures instead.  Incidentally, I brought a camera with me and gladly, the organizer who is my friend agreed to my suggestion.  Hence, the program begun.

The event was an educational advocacy program where our high school batch sponsored a scholar for the school year 2014-2015.  Some batch mates donated some amount to shoulder the finances of this scholar to enable her to continue her studies for this school year.  Through the donation, the scholar was enrolled and she received her school supplies as well as her uniform and school shoes, thus, the turnover.  The event was attended by some batch mates, guidance counselors of the school where the scholar was enrolled, the scholar and her parents.

It was a joyful and successful event but a tiring one.  I can hardly grasp a breath until it was all over.  I realized I needed to take a sit and take a deep breathing exercises.  Then came my friend serving something for the working committee.  Who could resist it? No one.  Even I was relaxed upon slowly savoring the food she served for us.  A day's work could never be hard because of the chocolate  moist with  mango parfait.  Funny, huh.  All the panic, shock, nervousness and tiredness was gone after a taste of the chocolate moist with mango parfait.  What a relief.  I even had not just one but more of it.

Easy Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream

Several weeks ago, my niece who is a two-year old was brought by my sister to our house.  Prior to their arrival, her nanny kept convincing me to make my homemade ice cream.  It was not so long ago that I started making an ice cream.  She happened to savor the ice cream I made during that time and she wanted me to make one upon their coming.

At first, I was doubtful.  It has been a couple of months since the last time I made a homemade ice cream.  Nevertheless, when they arrived, my niece's nanny continue to tease me to make an ice cream, so I gave in.

Making an ice cream is not that difficult.  In fact, I only knew how to make one through the internet.  The photo above is one of my finished products.  I am no expert in making ice creams but I have made a number of them for personal and not for commercial purposes.

Since I started making an ice cream, I have not used an ice cream maker.  I cannot find one here in our city.  For that reason, I make use of a hand mixer.  The ice cream in the photo is originally a simple chocolate ice cream not a rocky road ice cream.  I just added some marshmallows, minute chocolates, cashew nuts and sprinkles depending on who is eating the ice cream for there are those who do not want marshmallows, sprinkles, etc., and prefer a plain chocolate ice cream.

The ingredients for this ice cream include an evaporated milk, cream, condensed milk and cocoa.

How to make an ice cream without an ice cream maker?  It is simple.  Just observe the following:

First, mix the cocoa and condensed milk.

Second, combine the evaporated milk and cream and place it in your hand mixer.

Third, using your hand mixer, mix the evaporated milk and cream until the mixture sticks into your hand mixer.

Fourth, combine "First" and "Second."  Stir slowly.  It will look like the photo below.

Fifth, constantly stir the mixture until the color becomes brown as shown below.
Your mixture should look exactly as the photo above before freezing it.  Place this mixture in an airtight container then freeze.  After that, you'll have your own easy homemade ice cream.

My niece's nanny loved it and ate a lot of it, lol.  Of course, my sisters and my husband, too, took a taste of it.  Even I can not resist it.

Pinoy Cooking Recipes-Crediting a Source

I have not been blogging for so many years for I decided to concentrate on achieving a long-term goal which unfortunately I failed to reach.  To date, since I have the luxury of time, I plan to pursue my blogging hobby.  I may not be updating this blog everyday, nevertheless a number of articles will soon continuously burst out from this blog.  This is a pledge that I hope to maintain as long as I can and as long as needed.

To make good this blog, I assimilated through years of experience, way back when I was still blogging, that it is a rule to give credit to other websites a blogger used as a source or reference in an article he made.  An article in every blog is an intellectual property of the author, a legal concept, the application of which varies in every country.  To be a professional, reliable and trusted blogger, one must give respect to fellow bloggers by accrediting their work.  This is a concept that must not be ignored let alone be forgotten by any blogger.

In this post, I would like to recognize the website entitled Pinoy Cooking Recipes.  Since I decided, not too long ago, to know how to cook, I came across this website upon searching for "Nilagang Baboy" or "Pork Nilaga" or Boiled Pork.  There were different websites mentioning about Pork Nilaga, however this website provides for an easy procedure on how to cook Nilagang Baboy which is conducive for wives like me or any other individual who are completely novice in cooking.  Desiring to read more simple cooking procedures or meal recipes, I immediately bookmarked this site as a future guide for the same.  You can do so if you like.

Soon, an avalanche of cooked meal will be posted in this blog.  Some recipes may be based from the above-mentioned website depending on what appeals to me as I indulge in my role of becoming a cook for my husband.  Whenever recipes are taken and applied from the said blog, commendation will be recognized.

My First Mango Float

At last, I did it after several days of countless thinking and due to the mangoes that my husband bought for us, hahaha, I can not help but laugh.  I am so conscious with my first finished product that I kept asking my sister how it tastes and whether or not the sweetness is enough.  Unfortunately, until today my sister has not yet tasted the first Mango Float I made, hahaha; nevertheless, I already made another one for me and of course for my husband even though he is not into sweets that much and that is all because of the mangoes my husband bought, hahaha.  Is it so obvious that I am so happy?

I am in doubt if there is a need to include in this post the ingredients and procedure in making a Mango Float for the reason that I for one just searched it online.  Here is the photo of my first Mango Float:
What do you think?  Does it look delicious?
I am thinking of researching for other ingredients that may be mixed with the Mango Float to make it even more delicious but unique.  I want to lessen the sweetness so that my husband will love it more.  Okay guys, insofar as the ingredients are concerned, you can check it online or check the photo below; they are all that you need.
In the second time that I made a Mango Float, I placed the mixed condensed milk and creamer in the refrigerator for thirty (30) minutes or more then stir it using an electric mixer before applying it with the remaining ingredients.  In this way, the mixture becomes soft like an icing for a cake with an effect of increasing the volume of the mixture which indeed it does.  I actually made two pieces (with the size in the picture as shown above) instead of one when I made my first Mango Float.

That's it guys.  I am loving it so much.  Once I'll master the Mango Float, I'll search for other non-bake desserts to be posted in this blog.  I started with a simple Banana and Mango Fruit Salad Recipe now I know how to make a Mango Float.  As a wife, I am proud of myself.

Banana and Mango Fruit Salad Recipe for Dessert

Last week, I thought of making a Mango Float for the first time in my life but failed to do so.  Nevertheless, that does not mean that I am not planning to make one in the near future for the idea keeps appearing in my mind especially when I have nothing else to do.  In fact, I have already searched online the ingredients and instructions on how to make a Mango Float.

On the contrary, for some reasons, I am still unable to make a Mango Float until now, a reason why I decided to create this post on my Banana and Mango Fruit Salad recipe instead of the long overdue Mango Float.  Here it goes.

By nature, I am not good in cooking which is why I only know how to make this simple Banana and Mango Fruit Salad.  This fruit salad is easy to make.  Below are the ingredients:

Banana
Mango
Condensed Milk

I intentionally did not mention the quantity of the ingredients for you can gauge it yourself.  Now, the procedure?  Here it is.

1. Cut or chop the bananas and mangoes according to your desired size.
2. Pour on the condensed milk to the cut or chopped bananas and mangoes.
3. The quantity of the condensed milk depends upon the quantity of the fruits and your desired sweetness.
4. Mix all the ingredients and refrigerate before serving.

There it is your Banana and Mango Fruit Salad.

I am attaching a photo of the salad I made which my husband loved, that is, according to him and whether or not it is true it does not matter to me, lol.
What do you think of my Banana and Mango Fruit Salad?
