Online Searching for Job Vacancies: Development Part 1

It is about time to apprise the readers or followers of this blog on the development of my online search for job vacancies.  In my previous post entitled, "Searching for Job Vacancies," I shared to you what transpired on my experience on job searching via online.  It was recommended to personally apply for work rather than merely submitting it online.

In this post, I would still prescribe the same action assuming that you have an easy access to the place where you wanted to apply for work.  After having searched online for a job vacancy, supposing there is one where you felt you are qualified to apply, do not stop by submitting your application documents online.  It is a must to pursue your intent of applying for work by personally forwarding your personal documents to the particular employer you chose to be employed with.

Since I posted the article mentioned above, there was only one government agency which acknowledged receipt of my email attaching my letter of intent to apply with resume.  All other agencies including private companies where I applied via email without personally submitting my application letter and resume did no such action anent the matter.  That being so, an applicant is left hanging in the air if applying only through email.

However, this is not the case concerning those agencies where I personally delivered my application documents.  By handling your documents, a copy of which will be dated and signed by whoever is authorized to receive such documents as proof of receipt.  Said copy can be kept as your personal record so that if you make a follow-up as to the status of your application, you can show proof that you have submitted documents relating to the position you are applying for.  Aside from that, the person authorized to receive your application letter with resume will advise you on what to do next.  In this case, you will have an idea on what will happen and what will you do after.

I have been contacted by those agencies where I handed my application documents to inform me that I am scheduled for examinations and interviews for possible employment.  All I have to do now, insofar as this batch of submission of application letter and resume is concerned, is to wait and hope that I will be chosen for the position.

LBC Delivery Confirmation Text

A reminder: I am not paid for this.  As what this blog is all about, this is based on experience.

Last week, as I continue to search for a job, I decided to apply for work by mailing my resume via a particular private courier.  There are several trusted couriers in the Philippines and I have experienced using the services of most of them.  So far, I have not encountered any problem pertaining to the shipment or delivery of goods.  That is a relief.

In spite of that, this particular courier continue to amaze me.  I did not expect it has such service to the public.  I think the development of technology has something to do with it.  Usually, when mailing through a private courier it takes a day for the addressee to receive the letter or package delivered.  There is no question to that.  After sending my resume, I expect nothing from the courier.  It is my presumption that everything will be just ordinary, that is, my resume will be sent on time or as scheduled.  However, something extraordinary happened.  Aside from the fact that the resume was sent according to the courier's guidelines, it informed me through text messaging that the resume was received by the addressee.  Upon reading the confirmation text message, I felt satisfied, contented, confident and secured.  The feeling can be gleaned from the fact that I decided to make it a topic in this blog.  I was grateful for their effort such that they are worthy to be complemented of by making this post.

As the title says, the courier that is referred to in this post is LBC Express.  You cannot feel what I felt if you refuse to experience the services they are offerring just because their rates are higher compared to other private couriers.  What is significant is the satisfaction that you will receive from their services.

Searching for Job Vacancies

Internet seems to make everything less demanding.  From learning the alphabet to hurdling a problem of any sort, some if not all, solutions or answers may be found in the internet.  If there are questions or ambiguities regarding a particular matter, most people discover themselves immediately facing their device for the purpose of searching the internet to look for proper replies or corrections.  This is a fact in today's lifestyle.  From which do you belong, among the many or the few?

Not uncommon keyword that is usually searched online is "job vacancy."  Nearly all job seekers make use of the internet to look for possible employers may it be for online jobs or not.  Some were successful while others were not.

Here is my experience.  Since we have an internet connection in the house, I maximized its use.  I looked through the internet for job vacancies especially in some government agencies in the Philippines.  There were announcements in all their official websites for it is mandatory for these agencies to publish any job opening that they may have.  I found more than three vacancies where I am qualified to apply.  In some of those vacancies, I sent through email an application letter with resume, while in a few, I personally submitted my application letter and resume with corresponding photocopies of pertinent papers.  Anent the former, after several days since emailing, I received no reply or even a confirmation or recognition that they received my letter of intent to apply to the vacancy despite the authorization to submit a resume through sending an email. This is true to private companies where I also submitted an application letter by email.  Ergo, if applying for work via email, expect no response from these agencies or private companies informing you that they received the email you forwarded.

Further, once a vacancy is posted, it is incorrect to immediately apply for that specific position, rather it is recommended to make some verifications by giving said agency a ring and inquire if the vacancy is still open.  Why?  Based on experience, when called to inquire about the vacant position, a representative of this one government agency replied that the vacancy was for another position not the one posted in their official website.

This is my understanding.  When searching online for job vacancies, it is not enough to rely on what are published in a specific official website.  If a contact number is given, it is suggested to make use of it before submitting the requirements.  Online submission of application letter and resume is ill-advised.  The best thing to do is to apply personally.

Be Creditworthy by Paying Debts On Time

I have been unemployed for almost a decade due to several unexplainable and unexpected circumstances.  Some of these circumstances were made from intentional decision-making while others were not.  I may be unemployed for those number of years, yet I find ways to earn some money no matter how small it may seem to others.

My first money making online is blogging but I will not be talking about blogging in this post, may be sooner or later.  It has been more than a year since I am indulged into online selling via Facebook, a social network which is very helpful and useful into this kind of business.  The best thing about online selling is the seller's security where the seller is paid first prior to delivery of the item to the buyer.  Here, no credit transaction is possible where no personal relationship exists between the seller and the buyer.

However, it is unavoidable for the business to be publicly known especially to friends and friends of friends as it is published at Facebook.  Of course, since I am hoping for more income and there is trust involved, I agreed to enter into a credit transaction.  There has been no problem at first but as time passes by it flared-out one by one and it became hard to collect.

I blame no one for what happened, on the contrary, I urged debtors to be responsible in entering into this kind of transaction.  Debtors should think twice and hard before entering into credit transactions.  Their ability to pay on time reflects their personality not only as debtors but also as an individual as a whole.  If these debtors continually refuse to pay on time, no creditor may transact with them in the future when they needed it the most.  In addition, the trust that once was clear like water may become begrimed as a mud.  To be creditworthy, debtors should practice to extinguish their obligation by paying on time.
